Chairman's Annual Report 2017
Fellow members and friends. Happy New Year and best wishes and good walking for 2018.
It gives me great pleasure to update what is my 3rd Chairman’s Annual Report. I thought as a bit of a different start, I’d provide some statistics, although I can’t say that they are or intended to be in anyway completely accurate!
- Walks arranged and led; 25
- Average attendance; 11.25 members
- Total combined attendance; 270 members
- Total walk mileage in 2017; 171 miles
- Total combined distance; 1923 miles
All this would not be possible if it were not for the enthusiasm, commitment, enjoyment of our fine county (and beyond), and willingness to share favourite places and new found areas for and on behalf of MFS. Without this and the “back office” management of programme organisation, accounts and promotion by members of your committee, would mean we would cease to exist. Mention has to be made of course of those 25 walk leaders, who researched, developed, recce’d (sometimes in horrible weather), each of the walks and provided us all with a great and memorable day in the country.
The MFS Committee have, as always, done a magnificent job and as always make the Chairman’s role very easy. (I sort out Christmas dinner and hopefully don’t get the numbers wrong!) My thanks and gratitude go to Wendy (Treasurer), Mary (Secretary), Tracey, (Programme Organiser), Bill, Kath and Brian (Members Reps as well as Brian being Website Master too!).
2017 has been yet another successful years walking, with more to come in 2018 and I look forward to seeing you at our Annual General Meeting on 15th January and on a walk very soon.
Martin
